A Grid is a tabular dataset you build and customize using Halcyon's data. Each Grid is composed of questions (columns) pointed at a set of documents (rows). The individual cells contain the answers to those questions, drawn from the documents in that row — and you can click into any cell to verify exactly where the information came from.

Put simply: Grids are customizable datasets that let you rapidly build and update structured analyses at scale.

Energy information arrives in high volume and at high velocity. Grids bring familiar, spreadsheet-like structure to that firehose — without the days of manual work it takes to build and maintain a tracker by hand.

Grids are powered by the same engine behind Halcyon Search and Queries, sitting on top of Halcyon's data catalog.

Because every cell is generated from source documents, every answer is traceable. Click a cell to see the query that ran and citations pointing back to the original filings.

There are two common scenarios where we recommend customers use a Grid: if they’re already maintaining a spreadsheet, or if they run a Halcyon query and wish they could quickly replicate it across multiple searches.

Grids collapse the cost of building the market and regulatory intelligence datasets your team already maintains — and make a whole class of datasets viable that nobody builds today because keeping them current by hand is impossible. At the same time, they allow you to answer a question like “what residential VPP programs are active in the U.S.” with a complete list, rather than a few good examples.
